Why did you decide to work with children?

Working with children is the path I've been on now since I was 11 and first started babysitting for the kids next door. Meaning it's been a 28 year long journey! I love teaching them and watching the moments the light bulbs go off in a new moment of understanding. Their big hearts are wide open - ready to receive new information and ideas. Their dedication to imaginative play is inspiring along with each of their unique natures. It is endlessly fun working with children; it's like being in a constantly evolving open ended question.

Best thing about working at Bee Haven?

The best thing is going to be meeting all of the new families, children and colleagues. It'll be fun to collaborate and make new relationships. I am happy to be in Lynn Valley as that is where I grew up - there is so much beautiful nature, I look forward to exploring this with the kids.

Why did you decide to work with children?

Hello my name is Sajida Mohamedali. I moved to Canada in 2009 and it’s been great so far. I did my early childcare education certificate at Capilano University, and have been almost 8 years working in this field with kids as young as 4 months. I joined Bee Haven in 2012, and then took as short break as I was busy raising my own kids (I have two girls age 6 and 4). When I was ready to get back to a full time work, I really wanted to be at Bee Haven because the environment is very welcoming and comfortable for staff and families.

Best thing about working at Bee Haven?

I love working with kids, as each day is exciting, challenging, and fun. It is a wonderful feeling to get the opportunity to be a part in molding the growth of each child. It’s especially rewarding to have a job where I receive smiles, hugs, laughter, drawings, and get to enjoy the great moments that each child brings on a daily basis. I look forward to being a step in each child’s ladder of life experiences. Thank you for giving me the privilege to work with your most precious possession.

It’s not often that you get an opportunity to be a person responsible for how a developing person perceives the world. Helping them see how the world works, and teaching them how to achieve their dreams. It’s amazing how much an adult impacts you when you are a child, either positively, or negatively. I want to be one of those people who someone remembers as a positive influence in their life, someone who they know believes in them and supports them.

Why did you decide to work with children?

When I was getting my Bachelor’s degree in Law, I took a course as a factor in crime and there I learned about the importance of childhood as the golden stage of life and this awareness motivated me to learn more about it. Therefore, I took various psychology classes and decided to get my master in Personality psychology to expand my knowledge of human personality. Putting it all together I realized that having a healthy childhood is what matters the most not only for the individuals futures but also for the future of society. Since I always have a great relationship with children and I enjoy spending time and interacting with them, and I believe that my path could be working with them and helping them be their own best.

Why did you decide to work with children?

I decided to work with children because it can be such an unpredictable yet rewarding experience and gives me the chance to build a connection with each and every child. I have always been around kids, so it’s something that I’m familiar with and know how to deal with.

Why did you decide to work with children?

I was given an opportunity to volunteer twice a month to be in a program called Mentor Me and Urban Butterflies. Mentor Me girls meet every second Saturday with the Urban Butterflies. It is a way to learn about their culture thru workshops and outings in the community. Culture saves lives and it’s been the most rewarding opportunity that i have been given because it made me want to continue to help children in the community and I'm excited to be taking my Aboriginal ECE in September 2018!
