Kim Dunn

Manager

Operations Manager

I have many years of experience in the ECE field after earning my Early Childhood Education Diploma, specializing in infant/toddler and special needs. Over the years I have gained valuable experience and was given the opportunity to work with a variety of children of many ages in many different settings. This included Walt Disney World in Florida, several childcare centres in both Ontario and BC, resorts in Muskoka, Ontario, Girl Guide leader and volunteering through Big Sisters.

After completing the Business Program at Disney University I realized I really enjoyed the business side of how an operation works. I left the field for a few years to gain more experience in the business world. I worked in a sales and marketing position for a while but then ended up back in the world of ECE!

As a centre’s Manager’ I am able to have the best of both worlds – I still get to be with the kids and work on the business side as well.

I love getting to know all the new families coming into the centre.

Involve me, I understand"

I want to be one of those people who someone remembers as a positive influence in their life, someone who they know believes in them and supports them.

I have always had a strong connection with children. I enjoy stepping outside of my world to see things from their perspective and value their strong sense of creativity and imagination. Being part of their growth and development is a privilege and I hope to make a positive impact on their lives.

Best thing about working at Bee Haven?

I believe that the opportunity to work alongside other staff, who share the same passion for kids will be the best thing about working at Bee Haven aside from interacting with the kids themselves.

Why did you decide to work with children?

I gained experience through after school babysitting to volunteering at youth camps in Squamish to being a youth leader at summer day camps for multiple years. I've had many opportunities to be a sub at an out of school care where I've learned a lot! I am now qualified to work as a responsible adult with children, and I am very excited about the opportunity. All my previous work experience is what made me stay on this path and I've loved it so far.

Why did you decide to work with children?

I have always had a passion for working with children especially special needs children. As a child I struggled with learning disabilities so I can personally relate to children on that level. I love helping to motivate children to work through their struggles because anything is possible with supportive and understanding mentoring. I love seeing children grow emotionally and making positive decisions which will help them in the future. As an ECE assistant I get great joy when I see children accomplishing goals, laughing, and growing.

Why did you decide to work with children?

Hello my name is Sajida Mohamedali. I moved to Canada in 2009 and it’s been great so far. I did my early childcare education certificate at Capilano University, and have been almost 8 years working in this field with kids as young as 4 months. I joined Bee Haven in 2012, and then took as short break as I was busy raising my own kids (I have two girls age 6 and 4). When I was ready to get back to a full time work, I really wanted to be at Bee Haven because the environment is very welcoming and comfortable for staff and families.

Best thing about working at Bee Haven?

I love working with kids, as each day is exciting, challenging, and fun. It is a wonderful feeling to get the opportunity to be a part in molding the growth of each child. It’s especially rewarding to have a job where I receive smiles, hugs, laughter, drawings, and get to enjoy the great moments that each child brings on a daily basis. I look forward to being a step in each child’s ladder of life experiences. Thank you for giving me the privilege to work with your most precious possession.
